In most cases, the first syllable opens with the&nbsp;\u05e0&nbsp;prefix and closes with the first root letter:&nbsp;\u05e0\u05b4\u05d6\u05b0-\u05db\u05b7\u05bc\u05e8. When the first root letter is&nbsp;\u05d9, that&nbsp;\u05d9&nbsp;usually transforms into a&nbsp;\u05d5\u05b9&nbsp;vowel letter when the&nbsp;\u05e0&nbsp;prefix is added:&nbsp;\u05e0\u05d5\u05b9\u05dc\u05b7\u05d3. When the middle root letter is&nbsp;\u05d5&nbsp;or&nbsp;\u05d9, the signal letter forms an open syllable with a&nbsp;<em>kamatz<\/em>:&nbsp;\u05e0\u05b8\u05e4\u05d5\u05b9\u05e5<em>.<\/em>&nbsp;(There are only a few such roots that attest in&nbsp;<em>nif\u2019al<\/em>.)
